People at work

I am often asked to photograph people while they are working. The challenge of taking interesting individual pictures of everybody on a production line, for example – and making them all look different enough, as well as the same, is great fun.

There is nothing better for telling the story of how a company is a happy ship and cares about their workforce and what they produce, than pictures of the staff doing their work. Individual pictures of team members can be used at walk-in for conference, as well as team pictures - which might appear in PowerPoint slides presented by speakers. Both of these uses confer a sense of belonging to the pictured workers, as well as delivering the main message.

Abstract subjects, such as Software or Financial Services, are difficult to photograph – except in terms of people. People who are benefiting from the services supplied or who have lifestyles consistent with the service offered. There is always a way to use photography to ‘show off’ a service properly.
